The Sunday School For Special Needs

Ever since we opened our regular Sunday School here in S. Mateo,” says Esty Marcus, director of the Chabad Sunday School in S. Mateo, “I have seen the need for a Sunday School that caters to special needs. These children deserve to receive a full Jewish education comparable to their peers, yet there hasn’t been anywhere for them to get it.”

That’s why Marcus founded the Sunday School for Special Needs. After researching the subject through the internet and through other educators around the county, Marcus discovered that such schools do exist in other areas but not in the Bay Area.

In addition to the Special Needs school, Marcus will continue to direct her regular Sunday School in San Mateo, which is in its third year running. Both schools do not require synagogue membership and will be run under the auspices of the Chabad Jewish Center in San Mateo. Part or full scholarships are available.
