havdolah.jpg BH It’s an old tradition. As the Shabbos comes to a close, and the Shabbos Queen (a kabbalistic metaphor for the Divine aura that pervades the Shabbos) takes its leave until the next Friday…. we want to hold on to that Shabbos feeling, a taste of the world to come…. Hence the customary Melava Malka, Hebrew for “escorting the queen,” a get-together designed to keep the Shabbos with us for another few hours.
Melava Malkas can be done at home with the family but it’s even better when you invite friends. So if you’re feeling the Saturday Night Vibe please join us for some Melava Malka Magic, a mellow evening of community and friendship, song, storytelling, and, of course, something to eat.
