  • Quarterly Shaimot drop off

  • Four times a year, Sinai Memorial Chapel invites the Northern California Jewish community to drop off discarded sacred items that were once used for a holy purpose and now, for any reason, need to be discarded with dignity.

    The next time to bring in your sacred items to Chabad NP to be brought for burial will take place on Thursday April 3rd from 9:30am to 3:30pm or Friday April 4th from 9:30am to 3:30pm. Items can be left at the front desk with Elizabeth.

    Here are some additional guidelines to note:

    Fee: The first box you drop off there is no charge to inter any of these eligible Jewish items with innate holiness to the residential community of Northern California. Any additonal box's there will be $100 charge perbox.

    BIODEGRADABLE: Sinai accepts paper, bentcher or birchonim, machzorim, siddurim (prayer books or booklets), talesim (prayer shawls) and tefillin (phylacteries). Sinai does not accept plastic or laminate.SORT & BOX IN ADVANCE: Please sort and box all items neatly in cardboard prior to dropping it off. 

    UNNECESSARY ITEMS: Kippot, kippah, yarmulke or koppel (skull caps), Jewish newspapers, Hebrew language books, flyers, or items that are secular in purpose are not eligible.

    QUARTERLY DROP-OFF: Sinai provides this free service four (4) times per year. Items will not be received or accepted at other times.
