Curriculum

Our program is designed to actively involve students, and to keep the children motivated and enthusiastic. The curriculum is taught through a variety of mediums such as, games, drama, songs, arts and crafts, workshops and holiday celebrations. Parents are regularly informed of their child’s progress and the lessons covered in his/her classes. Through our monthly class summary we give the parents an opportunity to be involved in their child’s Religious School experience.

Overview

Hebrew Reading:

This Hebrew program begins with letter recognition and then progresses to phonetic decoding, reading comprehension, and writing. Each child progresses at their own pace using the RIIH-Read it in Hebrew Program, a Hebrew reading system that encourages and motivates students by helping them achieve new reading skills in each lesson.

My Jewish Treasure (Grades K–1):

Calling all explorers! Children will be diving into the incredible treasures of Judaism each week - mitzvot, traditions, values, and more! With interactive activities, games, and crafts, children will uncover the bounty of Jewish treasures in the past, their own lives, and the world around us. Each week, your child will collect a special “treasure token” to fill their personal “Jewish Treasures Chest” - while also discovering their inner treasures of kindness, confidence, and a strong Jewish identity.
 

Israel Quest (Grades 3–5):
Get ready for an adventure! Children will journey through the epic story of the Jewish people from entering the Land of Israel, to building the Beit Hamikdash, and beyond! Each week, through immersive and creative activities, games, and adventures, children will step into the shoes of prophets, kings, and heroes, discovering the strength of our people and the unbreakable bond we share with our homeland.

Holiday Curriculum: 

We use a spiraling curriculum for this subject, which means that we revisit the holidays each year in greater depth. This allows children to uncover new layers of meaning and explore different perspectives on these special days.

The curriculum is mapped out over a 7-year plan, so each year children will learn about the holidays in a new way. This will help them to develop a deeper understanding of the holidays and their significance.

Jew Q - Mitzvot Curriculum:

Students in third grade and above can choose to either focus on improving their Hebrew reading skills or participate in the Jew Q Program. The Jew Q Program introduces students to fundamental Jewish ideas and traditions. This year, we will explore many of our favorite mitzvot and how to fulfill our unique purpose in this world. A mitzvah is a commandment or good deed in Judaism.

Arts and Crafts

Art projects are incorporated into our curriculum to add to the excitement for the upcoming holidays and Mitzvot. Our projects will have Jewish holiday and Mitzvot themes and will add a taste of Jewish life to the home.

Extracurricular Activities

We will offer a variety of extracurricular activities such as special guests, Friday night dinners, Holiday celebrations, and contests. These events will allow our students to experience Judaism in its entirety.
